We’re about to install a video wall and every vendor we talked to all swore by Resolume as the right solution. I’m in charge of procuring the computers/managing the AV budget for this new location and for this I want to make sure what I’m purchasing is a proper option.
Our solution for the inputs is to use a Sonnet chassis with a Blackmagic Decklink Quad 2 inside. It will receive feeds from a ATEM Constellation (ProPresenter, multiple cameras, etc).
I see the Resolume tech specs: https://resolume.com/support/en/tech-specs. What I'm not sure about is how far we need to push these specs for beyond optimal performance.
I know the below specs are better than listed specs, but the video wall vendor suggested more than is noted by Resolume so I’d like clarity before we overspend.
1) they suggested not using a Mac, but that was more about price than performance. Resolume support also suggested not using an external PCI-e box ("Thunderbolt 3 is a very fragile connector."). We’re a Mac-based church so would like to stick with Mac throughout our install. What say you?
2) Here is the Mac Studio I’m looking at getting for this. Do you think this is sufficient or is it overkill?
Apple M2 Max with 12‑core CPU, 38‑core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine
64GB unified memory
512GB SSD storage
There is also the option right above that (which is insane computing power):
Apple M2 Ultra with 24‑core CPU, 60‑core GPU, 32‑core Neural Engine
64GB unified memory
1TB SSD storage
3) We originally had a Mac mini spec’d until the vendor suggested going big. Would this one work as well?
Apple M2 Pro with 12‑core CPU, 19-core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine
32GB unified memory
1TB SSD storage
Thank you for your time and we look forward to implementing Resolume.
