strange alpha channel behaviour

I have some clips that have no alpha channel at all.
If I trigger one on a layer with alpha as blend mode and visibility all the way up and I then take a snapshot, the resulting png has some transparency.(in some cases a lot!)
Why is that?
It's disconcerting, to say the least!

Check Composition master, Layer master, other layer effects.
If the Clip video properties show the A button available, in the RGBA, the source has alpha channel. You can switch it off there:
