Prevent layer references from changing with new layer insertions?

Post by manymanyhaha »

If I insert a layer below, every video router reference is moved to the layer below what I had set it at. How do I stop that? How do you lock the layer references? (Hope that makes sense).

Locking layer assignment in the Video router is not possible at this time.
Moving this to feature requests.

Bumping. Really need to be able to lock layers. Video Routers are such a creative tool that is hindered by having to redo every Video Router just for inserting one new layer. Really kills the creative vibe.

Each layer has a unique ID right? Can we lock that UID to a name, and then have the name not change when a layer is inserted? Personally I don't care about the router as much as I do layer to slice routing in ASS. This gets me every time haha.

Thanks :)

What happens with layer routers in other decks then?
What happens with layer routers loaded with decks from other compositions?

Probably not going to work lol. I feel the use case for this request outweighs the niche disadvantages that the majority of users will not ever see let alone think about. Also, most decks typically have the same layer config as the previous from the users I've seen use them.

Just some kind of lock as an option so that every time I want to experiment, follow a thought through and see what happens, I don't have to weigh what will be learned against the time it will take to search for every layer reference and put it back.

What I'm not sure I understand is they already have this, just not for Video Routers. You can "lock" midi controllers to the layers so you don't have to go back and redo every midi controller when inserting new layers so why not the routings?
