Drag and drop from Photos doesn't work

I have never been able to open videos by drag and drop from the Photos app on my MacBook Pro. Why? When I drag a video into Resolume the video opens as a JPEG image.

Please help with this since it is severely limiting.

Well resolume works best with DXV codec or you could use Pro-res. There are other formats that work, but if you really want to do something nice in resolume with effects and loops, one of the first two will be best. If you drag and drop from the photo app, most videos will not be in the right format, and I think another problem you have is that the photos app shows you a preview not the original video in your main screen.

One problem you have on a Mac is that DXV files will not give a preview in the finder and can't be played by Quicktime. But you can use Resolume Alley to preview them.

And you could install this, it will still not give you a playing preview, but at least it will show you the first frame of your video.

btw do you have a link to that tutorial? I don't know it but I think it's a very old one because years ago you could still use DXV in QuickTime, so all over your Mac so also in the photo app

Thanks for your reply. That is rather surprising. I guess I'll have to manage by opening the photo files via the files browser. It would be great if we could have a photo browser in Resolume.

So far everything works fine. I'm not using video files that much though. I'm working mainly with generators and effects and I think I am doing something nice

Oh sorry I misunderstood you. I thought you were talking about the videos that you had in the photo app but pictures should not be a problem you can just copy a picture and paste it in Arena from anywhere.

I was talking about videos and that they open as an image in Resolume which is weird. I just mean that we should have a photos browser where you could open photos and videos from.

Also and option to automatically convert imported videos to DVX codec would be handy.

Finder should be able to do that. Resolume can also do that in the Files panel.

I never understood why Apple insists on handling photos separately from files on mac and iOS.
