Hi
As for now i´m loading/playing my clips directly from external SSD ( Samsung T5 ).
I was kindly advised to install NVMe in the internal slots instead of external HD, there seems to be 2 slots in my Asus ROG GL702VI-BA018T. would definitively want to do that but worried about overheating the motherboard. Doesn´t seem enough space for heatsink ( necessary? ).
Was considering Samsung 990 Pro NVMe ( TB? ). fill 2 both slots?
Grateful for advice.
clip storage NVMe SSD-Risk of Overheating and Thermal Throttling Motherboard?

Re: clip storage/loading best practice?
Best practice = Never run shows from an external or a cloud shared folder.
Samsung T series drives would be "The" drives to run a show off an external if you are to do it, but as cheap as nVme's are these days, if you have the time, I would just upgrade internal.

Re: clip storage/loading best practice?
For storage, I prefer Samsung. Evo vs Pro is really just a warranty thing so buy whatever makes sense to you

Re: clip storage/loading best practice?
sorry for asking again, but heatsink is necessary i suppose? looking the Samsung 990 Pro has with heatsink, but doubtful if fits into laptop?suggestions?
Re: clip storage/loading best practice?
Won't fit into a laptop. Not sure if it's needed or not, but if it comes from the factory that way, I would guess it is needed.
Re: clip storage/loading best practice?
Thanks for reply. inconclusive how hot laptop gets/detrimental without, but seems like copperplate+thermal pads is one solution.Arvol wrote: Mon Dec 04, 2023 18:28 Won't fit into a laptop. Not sure if it's needed or not, but if it comes from the factory that way, I would guess it is needed.
