I have this layer and I want my second layer to be visible only in the background between the "peaks".
Currently it is visible through the entire first layer which I don't want.
How do I do this in Avenue?

Re: Keying
use automask.... It will take out all the black or white think that's where you after
Re: Keying
Thanks. I tried a number of times with AutoMask but didn't succeed. Maybe because the black is actually alpha. The background layer is already visible in the black areas but also through the graphics which I don't want. So I wonder it it's actually possible. I can do it in Resolve by removing the black there.

Re: Keying
If it already has a alpha channel, then you just need to put it on top of the layer that you want to have underneath and then put the layer opacity to 100 and use add instead of alpha as a blend mode
Re: Keying
Yes I know but as I described the background is also visible through the graphics of the foreground layer which I don't want. I want it only in the black areas. So I guess it's not really keying but blocking. I can do it in DaVinci Resolve though. Thanks.

Re: Keying
a ok i see... I made a solution for this thats available on JuiceBar. Auto Mask Pro. that takes out only the black and not the dark greens or blues, of course depending on your settings. Made you a little movie to demonstrate...
Re: Keying
Thanks for helping with this
I cannot make it work like you do in the video. I put the AMP plugin on top of the foreground layer and then it removes the graphics already present.

Re: Keying
I think this is because you use a version with a alpha mask already. But thats what AMP would/should do. you should not have a alpha mask, but just a complete back background. So may be re-render your footage without alpha....
Because I just used your first image which has the black background.
If I misunderstand, can you please post some screenshots or a movie then hopefully I can help you out

Re: Keying
I think you're right. No problem, I can re-render it or do it in Resolve.
Re: Keying
You can also disable alpha for your clip with these little toggles, so you might not need to re-render in such a case:
