Hello everyone I think many people have had such moments that when you play a video with sound, you hold your breath before turning it on and pray that you don't accidentally click in the wrong place, so that our video doesn't accidentally turn off and then make you blush in front of everyone
It is possible to prevent accidental misclips by adding a mode in Preference for choosing a double or single mouse click in Resolume. What do you think about this?
Double click mode?
Re: Double click mode?
Double click is already assigned so that wouldn't work.
I'm not understanding the problem, could you give an example? You know you can cue things up via the preview then make it go live. No audio on preview by default.

Re: Double click mode?
Example: we have launched a video with sound. In the process of playing a video clip, I need to connect a usb device. I bend over to the laptop, accidentally touch the mouse and I have an involuntary click on an empty field in Resolume. After that, a black screen appears, since I switched the video with sound to an empty field.
Re: Double click mode?
Has that ever happened? I would say a -1 on this and suggest better user care
haha (no hate)
No sense in making the UI harder to use for everyone because of that 1 user who has accidents

Re: Double click mode?
A small percentage of people get into a car accident, but no one cancels seat belts

Re: Double click mode?
Hi Judicator,
normally I would give every "optional" safety mechanism a +1.
Your case already happened to me, but only in a rehearsal situation. I tried to preview the next clip, but clicked to high.
But with your explanation
:
"Example: we have launched a video with sound. In the process of playing a video clip, I need to connect a usb device."
Why on earth would you connect a usb device mid show in a probably show-critical moment?
Please promise me to never do that again.
Best wishes

Also, my vehicle doesn't have seat belts as it was built in 1951
People get virus's from the internet, people don't cancel the internet.
Re: Double click mode?
You can lock the content playing in layers.

Re: Double click mode?
True, critical moment: need to change file on show. This happens rarely, but it still happens.cosmowe wrote: Fri May 03, 2024 20:21 Why on earth would you connect a usb device mid show in a probably show-critical moment?![]()
I can also say that this is a bad example. People didn't use penicillin, not because they didn't need it, but because it wasn't invented until a certain time. As well as with seat belts and many other improvements that are now available in the car.Arvol wrote: Fri May 03, 2024 20:34 Poor example

Yes, this may be a solution, but it would be convenient if the Lock function had a hotkey.Zoltán wrote: Mon May 06, 2024 10:23 You can lock the content playing in layers.

Re: Double click mode?
How often are you locking and unlocking clips?
This still sounds like something that could be fixed by how a user works in the software.
The majority of users would not want to waste the developers time on something like this when multi channel audio and 3D support are higher up on the list of what the majority of users are needing.
When I deal with branded frames for events, or logo's that need to remain in place throughout an event, the lock feature is the perfect solution. You shouldn't have to lock and unlock several times on a show.
You can also collapse layers to make it more difficult to trigger anything, but I think it comes down to being spacial aware of your surroundings and setup and just taking more caution on how you work.
I wouldn't expect a jackhammer manufacture to build in an 'eye contact safety' to prevent users who are talking to co-workers from blasting their toes off because they took their eyes off their work. The manufacture would say, train employees better. I'm not trying to throw any hate here, but this request seems a bit silly to me.
