Update or Upgrade ?

Post by therandelman »

hey everyone!

i just read a post of ed talkin 'bout resolume 3.0 (the GPU shader thread) and now i am just wondering how many free updates there will be (free, containing bugfixes, little changes in features, etc.) until the final upgrade to version 3 arrives (not free, major new features, ...) ???

from my point of view, there are still some issues left to fix which should come as free updates (eg. audio analysis, audio features, performance issues, ...)

what do u think?
what would you expect to come in a free update? what changes are u sill waiting for?
what would you regard as features for a next version you would pay for?

i would also like to ask bart and ed if they have some kind of "plan" yet or something... will there be a version 2.4? or 2.5?
or are u going to develop a new version right away?
what of the often requested features will come in a free update?
what definitley not?

i would really appreciate some answers from everyone! thanks a lot in advance andhave a nice day!
regards,
tRm

I'd just like to get the few little wrinkles in 2.3 ironed out before I worry about 3.0

The only possible addition I can think of would be for resolume to transmit MIDI out. I'm not really sure if that's a major thing or not.
Other than that I'm happy about what 2.x is capable of and it does all the things I can think of wanting to do!

You see, I'm one of the people who's not really bothered about audio out...

thanks for your answers!
great to hear that res2.4 is on its way! thanx for the info bart! dying to know what the new feature is about... ;)

@ pifco: i was actually not talking about audio output... nor am i botherted about that. i would prefer more possibilities when it comes to audio syncing (beat tapping for example)

i dont think( i could be wrong) resolume would do another jump from 2.4 or 2.5 to 3, the jump between 1.51 and 2 was because it seems they recoded alot of the backend stuff. and it wasnt realy the same resolume as it was before.... wel l thats just my take on it :P

big new features eh?? any idea when we will find out what it is? :D
