The perfect Transparency?

Post by tim.krieger »

Hi Everybody!
I've been trying around with Resolume for quite a few weeks now, and I really like it! Just a few questions: I usually make some small animations with aftereffects, and export them using the cinepak codec. (for example, the moving logo of a club) I use a lot of transparent layers (alphachannel). Unfortunally, when I import them in resolume and play them over another clip, the edges get all fuzzy and ugly, with some white or black artifacts around them that don't belong there.
Question: What is the perfect transparency setup for Resolume?
I tried exporting my footage as a .swf animation, that seemed to work a little better.
Any tips?

Thanks a lot!

not all codecs preserve alpha transparency in resolume, certainly not cinepack anyway as far as I remember.

check this thread http://www.resolume.com/forum/viewthrea ... 86#pid7175

You can effectively chromakey with the transparency mode (RTM for how to) or use visualvinyl's smoothlumakey freeframe plugin if lumakeying will suffice (much smoother than resolume's std lum).

If your logo is simply black or white, screen or multiply are very smooth.
