No option in Video router for individual clips?

I cant figure out why there would not be an option in the Video router effect to get a individual clip this would be really neat way of throwing stuff around.

Another option would be to "use preview"/selected clip then you can have a bank of random effects and click around with mouse rather than the effect being tied to a layer.

What limitation does choosing layer as input imply? Do you use more than one clip at a time from the same layer by setting them in target mode free layer? I ask because I'm trying to understand. I like the Video Router too.

Video router is there, so you can do effect clips, which are applied to layers below

If you want your effects on a specific clip, I'd recommend dropping the effects on that clip, that way you can leave out the routing part entirely.
