First big HI to you all,
In short I try to connect led panels as hobby vi to Resolume to replace normal screens.
as a note I am just an hobby VJ so I am willing to spend to much money for this, but not go full in. The cheapest to get a mid quality solution is my goal.
Right now I am using Resolume with 3 screens and and matrix splitter to get the output on my ceiling as seen in the picture. While the screens were a cheap solution to learn Resolume, the outcome is ok but due the angle not enough visible.
So now the next step is to use real LED panels like some of these Ali express ones ore any other solution that does not explode my budget:
P1.875 LEX RGB Led Screen Panel
320 x 160 MM / 128x64 Dots
https://a.aliexpress.com/_EIbHhXP
I know that I need an LED processor like an novastar MCTRL600/700/… I can get some used ones for 200-300.
From there I also need some LED receiving cards like this one:
https://www.novastar.tech/category/prod ... ving-card/
Power supply and stuff I can figure out myself.
So my understanding right now:
1. Resolume advanced output via HMDMi out
2.HDMI In into Novastar
3. Calibrate Nivastar software
4. Via LAN out to the Receiving Cards
5. Receiving card via data cable to LED Panels
So since I want to replace the screens which are around 2-2,5 meter I would need around
Two rows of 8 Panels so in Total 16 Panels of these above. So a 1024 x 128 resolution and in total 131.072 Pixels.
Maybe be creative and ad along the way other screens, so I just need additional room for maybe future projects.
Let’s stick with the MCRLT 700 it has 6-channel gigabit Ethernet output ports (where each supports up to 650,000 pixels).
-> so it should be doable with just led receiver card for the output?
Than is the question now determine which Reciver card is right and does every card work with all panels?
Can the Novastar communicate with all cards?
Is it than in the Novastar software easy to adjust?
I want to be a little bit save, determine what I really need and understand it in basic. Frome there I can roughly calculate my cost.
I love VI and also the technical aspect. But I am stopped because dont understand it fully and cant find right answers before I order.
Hopefully someone can answer my questions.
If there is any other way I am completly open. But I want a system that works pretty stable during a party night and can mimic the real stage thing in “mini”
Thanks in advance,
Milian

Re: How to connect LED Panels to Resolume
Hey Milian,
we use Novastar stuff in our LiveBand. Our LED-Wall (5,0x2,5m) is build by 0,5x1,0m panels and each panel exists out of 0,25x0,25m "mini-panels". Everything is running with 3,91mm Pixlpitch.
We use the Novastar VX400s-N LED Controller with 4 LAN Ports.
Our Controller works only with Novastar Receiving Cards. Novastar makes that clear on their homepage.
Tipps:
When calibrating the novastar controller with LCT make sure your wiring. Otherwise you have to reset the receiving cards. The Novastar software is not that easy, the MAC OS Version (Smart LCT) is much easier, but will not work with all controllers.
Your topology is right.
We use the advanced output only when we re running a divided LED Wall.
Regards Rene

Thanks for the reply. Can I use any reciving card from Novastar with these cheap ali express panels or is there some major thing I have to check. Or is it in the end a calibrating thing. I would use the Novastar as I get It relatively cheap. The receiving cards are also ok if I can use the ones I linked above.
As in the two examples linked above, Novastar receiving card and the posted LED panel link. Would that work?
