Can't figure out MIDI note to clip assignment...

Post by gpvillamil »

I am trying to assign MIDI keys to trigger clips in Resolume, and can't quite get it to work.

In the preferences, MIDI mapping, dialog I can see the clip grid layout, with 4 tabs: active, 1, 2, 3

As far as I can tell, only assigning the keys to the layout in the active tab does anything (and this works quite well). What do the remaining 3 tabs do?

the active tab means that you trigger clips in the active layer.
The 1,2,3 tabs mean that you can trigger a clip directly in a certain layer without it having to be active.

aha - and you can't duplicate a MIDI note assignment in the active panel and the other three. that is what was throwing me off.

however - you can have the same MIDI notes assigned, but on different channels? that way I can choose the slot into which a clip will go, by turning the MIDI channel selector knob on my keyboard...
