i´m thinking about an Update from GTX580 to HD7970, useful or just wasting money?
actual system: 2 x X5650, 48GB RAM, 1 x GTX580, 2 x HD5870 Eyefinity 6 (=> Problems using AMD&NV, AMD driver crash)
new system: 2 x X5650, 48GB RAM, 1 x HD7970, 2 x HD5870 Eyefinity 6
Before i used a HD5870 as main card and had no problems with drivers.
Upgrade from HD5870 to HD7970?

Get an Nvidia card, resolume doesn't support ATI properly. (random different issues depending on the version of the catalyst drivers you have)
Re: Upgrade from HD5870 to HD7970?
hmm...I think there was a similar question before in this forum.
But...I can try answer it again
I'm owning two VJ Systems...
One with GTX 580
and a Notebook with a 7970......
I never never had any troubles or hassle with driverupdates for the GTX580...but a lot of troubles with the 7970. Flickering Outputs...and other unexpected behaviours inside resolume. And of corse think about the resolution limitation from the AMD cards.
From my point of view there is still no need to upgrade a GTX580 to 7970....it will still make a solid job the next year.

LINK TO POST: CLICK!We have purchased 3 different ATI cards (worth well over 500 pounds) spent a lot of time trying to figure it out and we have not been able to find the source of this erratic behaviour, for now the best thing to do is get an nvidia card.

Re: Upgrade from HD5870 to HD7970?
upgrade to Nvidia Titan if you want a REAL upgrade :p
anyone tested this card yet? :p

If you're updating your video card, forget ATI crap, and go with an Nividia card.
the driver issues are killing my love for VJing, with ATI.
