File relocating

Post by dirtyjohn_lv »

Moving files between computers with different drive setups, relocate won't open a file dialog

Computer A has drive C and D, with content stored on D

Computer B has drive C only

Trying to relocated on Computer B causes nothing to happen probably because it can't find drive D.
Maybe if it can't find a drive, default to computer system drive?

Sorry, it took us a while to find two computers for testing with this (it's amazing how many machines come with two drives by default these days).

This is indeed the cause of the mysterious 'relocate not opening' issue. Thanks so much for figuring it out and letting us know!

First of all, I want to say Resolume Arena is very cool program....BRAVO.

I have been working on a Windows 7 and 8 systems. I just bought Arena 2 weeks ago. I had been working furiously on a big project using a unregistered version of Resolume Arena and it all seemed to work well (that is why I eventually bought it). It came to show day a few days ago and I put the newly created composition in the new registered show computer with my purchased serial number and tried to relocate the files and got this File relocating problem - dialog window NOT popping up. I tried on XP, Win 7 and Win 8 computers with the same problem.

It seems that you are aware of this now. This is an extremely BIG show stopper for me  and has caused a lot of problems at this point in time.

Is there a known workaround yet ?

Many thanks!

Here a workaround for you:

- Make a backup of your Resolume showfile wich works fine on computer A

- Move your Clips with their foulderstructure to your computer B

- Open your showfile with the a texteditor on computer B

- Use the search function and search for a path of a clip from computer A
(example: D:\content\show\Festival_bam_2013\clips\laser_01.mov)

- Copy a part of your path wich is global for all your used clips.
(example: D:\content\show\Festival_bam_2013\clips\laser_01.mov)

- Use the search&replace funktion of the texteditor
search: D:\content\show\Festival_bam_2013
replace with: C:\content\show\Festival_bam_2013 ( << the new location on computer B)
Yes to all! Save!

Tell me if this works for you?
