Running both Resolume and Ableton on new retina 15" MacBook

Post by gulfarsson »

Hi there, I recently bought the monster of a computer that is the retina 15" MacBook. Before that I had a 2006 model, which needless to say, did not support any VJ action but I have been playing live with Ableton.

I followed some tutorials on how to sync Ableton and Resolume, and in them everyone talked about separating the 2 things on 2 computers. I've done that now, it works fine, but I'm going on a tour soon, and would love to leave the old one at home and bring only the new one(also, 2 computers on stage).

So my question is this: Is it possible to do with this monster, or do you still recommend the other method? I mean I have tried it, it worked fine as a test, but if I build up a big vj set along with my (too) big Ableton set, will it still handle it?

How monster is monster and how big is big?
The answer to your questions lies there. Personally I run both programmes on a 15-inch, Mid 2010 Macbook Pro and it's fine.
