Latency of Artnet from ETC ION

Post by bryerkerk »

I was curious what the average latency of Artnet from a lighting console would be. It seems like I have to delay my lighting cues 100 milliseconds to trigger resolume when my lights trigger. Thanks for all the help!

Its been a few years since I've used an ion(or done any theatre) but that takes a lot longer then it should. How are you connecting the board? Are you going through a straight router or is it through some etc net nodes first?

are you delaying the signal to resolume?
analog lights like PARs or anything that has a halogen light bulb, you could expect some latency which is caused by the filament warming up.
dimmers usually can be set up to pre-heat these lights so this delay will be as minimal as possible.
also on blackout it takes some time to cool down.

I figured out the problem. It's my Led Video Wall Processor that is causing the latency. When I hook it up to a monitor or a projector there is no latency.
