11 projectors and one screen set up

Post by wesleybruijs »

I am setting up a 11 projector half dome projection, for this I will use Epson EB X-36 running on 1024-768 resolution. and one vj monitor 1920-1080 screen.

I am trying to get a pc together which can do these outputs at the same time but getting the right hardware here (Thailand) is very hard. The import tax here is 90% so not ideal to import from abroad. I can get most new video cards and processors etc. But no Matrox triple or dual heads, also the Radeon HD 7850 Eyefinity 6 is not available here. The total budget for the pc is around 3000 - 3500 Euro but this should also include any converters needed.

I can use VGA or HDMI cables ( around 25 meters lenght) and the projection will run every day for around 6 hours a day. If anyone has any suggestions on GPU I should use. And how to deal with the lanes on the CPU when for example using 3 GPU when only having total of 40 lanes, would this matter fro use in resolume? I would also like to use a PCI SSD in order to run the video's more smoothly.

Any tips or help is welcome :)

Looking to do something similar 9xXVGA resoltion, analyzing this tread might help: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=11904

And look for a CLUB3D MST HUB if you cant find a triplehead2go. 6 hours per day, with an average life expectancy of 2000 hours, will make you replace all your bulbs every 300 days!! (be sure to keep that in mind when picking what projectors to use).

I got no answers, cozz I am also in the research stage, just happy we have a slightly bigger budget.

thanks for the reply, I already contacted Club3d about these MST HUB's but they told me they would not be ideal for this kind of set up and advised me to use GPU instead of the HUB. Due to the longer cables that are needed.

as for the life bulb is 5000 Hours and I already told my client to do this every year to maintain best quality. Will already order some light bulbs as stock.

I just read your topic, can you let me know what worked for you and what was your final set up. Because I will need to be very close to yours thanks :)
