Previewing and cycling through blends

Post by sourcegate »

While we are on the topic of blending modes I have two perhaps (newbie questions)

1 - Is it possible to do a composite in the preview panel prior to outputting it? I can get things to preview by clicking under the clip itself but not actually do the composite. Sometimes playing around with Blending modes can produce unexpected happy accidents and I was wondering if there was a way to do this so it's not outputted.

2 - speaking of happy accidents with blending modes, Is there a way to map a key or trigger to quickly cycle through blending modes? The closest thing I've been able to do is set the dropdown to a dial and cycle through it that way but I'd love other options.

1. Previewing several clips or layers together is currently not possible in Resolume. Of course, you could preview the composition, but this would mean going to black while you're trying to cause happy accidents.

2. For cycling through blend modes, assigning a rotary or fader to the dropdown is the best way to go. Each layer also has three preset/favourite blend slots that you can switch between. You can assign midi shortcuts for this on the active layer or absolute level.

Understood thank you for this. Sounds like I'll have to do a bit more planning in advance to prevent "live" accidents from happening.

I was hoping to prevent having to do a great deal of layers (currently using 4) and was having trouble finding how to "toggle between" the three different modes. I've got a workaround for now, just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.
