Hi,
Has anyone tried outputting through multiple GPUs?
I am wondering how stable is Arena with it.
I'm planning to have a setup of a Dell R730 dual E5 server, setup with a pci extender with a bandwidht of 128GB, installed with 6 GTX1080.
Will this be stable enough to run Arena with a high enough fps?
Thanks
Multi GPU
Re: Multi GPU
Stable, yes. High fps, probably not.
The problem with multiple GPUs in a single machine is that the pixels are read from disk, uploaded to the GPU via your motherboard, rendered there, then have to travel back to the motherboard and up to the other GPUs. That roundtrip is a performance hit.
Exact figures are hard to give, because it all depends on the size of your composition, the resolution you want to run your outputs at, how many layers you want to run, your mobo and how many PCIe lanes at what bandwidth you have, and what performance you still find acceptable.
My guess is, even if you get the OS to detect all 6 GPUs, you're not going to have a good time on Resolume with them.
You can read all about the options you have, their advantages and their drawbacks here: http://resolume.com/manual/_media/en/r5 ... upport.pdf
