Export to DXV

Post by aftermathematic »

This might be a really dumb question, but when I convert an MP4 to DXV, the resulting file is a MOV file. Is this normal? I was expecting the files to have a DXV extension..
I tried this in Adobe Media Encoder and Mpeg Streamclip.
Thanks!

.Mov is the container. DXV is the codec used within.

DXV is a QuickTime codec which is why you end up with a .mov extension which indicates a QuickTime File Format (QTFF).

Here are are a couple interesting Wikipedia articles about Video file formats in general and QuickTime file format in particular.
