A few issues

Post by alimacisaac »

Hi

I am looking for some advice, please!
I'm no expert so i will try to explain best i can.

i am thinking of getting resolume.
Before i buy i want to check some details.

1:
If my projector has a native resolution of 1024 x 768
Do i need to make all my visuals in this size to get the best quality?
Or can i use full hd clips and set the output of resolume to
that of the native projector setting (1024 x 768)?
Would this mean resolume would need to down scale the full hd clips
meaning loss of quality?

2:
i have 2 projectors and i also have a matrox DualHead2Go analogue version.
I downloaded the matrox system checker tool and it says that my
laptop can display a total of 2048 x 768 (2x 2048 x 768) This would look great! :)

I have played about on resolume demo and set the project output
settings to 2048 x 768 and made sure the visuals are set to full screen.
(they stretch to fit the screen and look a little strange but some are ok)
It would probably make sense to make them at 2048 x 768!
The problem is when i try to set the output to my matrox & projectors to 2048 x 768
windows does not give me this option, so output does not work very well.

Is there a way around this?

It depends on what you're trying to achieve. If you going 1:1 then yes that's probably the best approach.

You can do that as well in the advanced ouptut.

Yes there would be some scaling (or cropping) that needs to happen. If you crop then there'd be no loss of quality but if you scale then yes there would be some. Also as a reminder, HD and 1024x768 don't have the same aspect ratio so there'd be different scale factors for X and Y.

2048x768 is very common.

You'd have to create two slices that are 1024x768 to match your projectors and set the input map to half of you comp. If you search the forum, you'll find good information on how to set up your comp for Matrox DH2G and TH2G.
