capture card kills layer

Post by VJ Nexus »

I have an ATI TV Wonder Pro pci capture card. It has always worked great in resolume, until version 2.2. Never actually tested it on 2.1, as I skipped from 2.0 to 2.2, but this is very disheartening. Any suggestions!? I really like the channel selection options of 2.2, and would hate to revert to 2.0 for my next live gig, but I really need this card for a camera input. I also have a Hauppauge capture card, which still works fine.

When trying to load the ati capture card to a layer, it seems to completely kill that layer, and I can no longer even load clips into it. After trying to load it into layer 1, layer 1 is completely dead and unresponsive to anything at all. I can still load clips and my other capture card into layer 2 & 3, but layer 1 remains completely dead until I restart resolume....

bart, edwin, please help!!!

AMD64 3000+
1gb ddr 400
2x80gb 7200 raid_0 (clips) 160gb 7200 (system)
ati radeon 9800 pro 256
capture devices (ati tv wonder pro & hauppauge winTV)
win2k sp4-very clean resolume os only

Various problems with live inI've had were sorted by opening the config panels in anothr app an adjusting them there before opening resolume, might work for you?

I've always had to do that (open config panels) and always do, it doesn't help at all. In fact now I ran across another problem with my other capture card. (Hauppauge WinTV) It loads fine, and looks great at 320x240, but when i change process resolution to 640x480 which is what i always use, it looks like crap. Full of pixel holes (don't know how else to describe it) this problem only exists in 2.2, no other version...

I have been experiencing video card card layer hangs as well, but mine started with resolume2, 2.1 and still in 2.2

I'm using DV cam via firewire (Microsoft DV driver) and Avermedia Analog capture card (el cheapo stuff). The DV feed is much more stable than the Avermedia one.

The Avermedia source will eventually lock up the layer, and nothing else will play in the layer after that. Exiting resolume is the only solution. Sometimes a re-boot is also required.

The avermedia driver has to be configured before use, but, I do this using resolume's driver control. It never auto-senses properly (eg, always starts with PAL-B selected), but this is the card / driver as it does this with other software (but not with pinnacle studio.. which use the Avermedia card perfectly reliably?).

This is really holding me up now with regards to resolume use & my persuit of using video mixers to feed resolume which then feeds the projetcors with XGA, I need to have live camera's reliably in resolume.

Maybe and extra PC with 2nd copy of Resoulme for just video capture / cameras, but this is more kit for the rig (argh, not more :( )

AMD Athlon XP 2500
1.5 gb DDR2
500gb SATA150 RAID0 for Resolume and source / content
(7200 rpm system for XP)
ATI 9200 256mb (TVout, yack encoder :-( )
AVermedia capture (svideo/composite)
Firewire for DV source
usb 2.0 midi controller (BCR 2000)
