Resolume Arena 5.1.3 Problem Controlling Philips color Burst Icolor and Iplayer 3

Hey guys,

I am not sure if this is the right place to ask for help in this matter but here I am.

I am aiming to control some color Bursts and Color Blasts from Philips through Resolume 5. I have an ethernet cable that is wired up for DMX and it is connected to the Icolor control box (see pic) bypassing the iplayer ( Not using the iplayer from phillips) but I cannot seem to have any response at all from the fixture. I did create a fixture and lumiverse with 3 RGB channel fixture with no luck.
When I check my preferences/DMX I can see Resolume sending ArtNet signal to broadcast.
Am I missing something?
As Resolume is sending ArtNet protocol, do I need any sort of ArtNet to DMX conversor between laptop and box?
I am completely lost as it is the first time I am trying to control DMX RGB fixtures through Resolume despite I am familiar with DMX etc from my lampy background.

So I could be wrong but Philips are kinda dicks with control protocols. They usually use proprietary protocols for light control. You normally need an expensive convertor box from Philips to do this. I've always had another box in line to take artnet control. In my
Experience Madrix works natively with the colorkinectic protocol, but never resolume without some nerdy hacking. We're going back afew years tho, so something may of changed.

But I have been told that the machine understands DMX protocol as well so I wonder if I am doing sth wrong when it comes to creating the fixture?

Ethernet cable wired to DMX coming from an Ethernet port, won't work.
They are different standards. Philips is very misleading in this way.
The RJ45 you see on the iPlayer, in fact uses only 3 wires like the 3 pin XLR does, it's not ethernet.
So you'll need to use a usb DMX controller with resolume, or an Artnet to DMX converter.
You need to connect the DMX output to the fixtures directly.

Would it be possible to do it wirelessly.? I mean, would resolume send DMX through my laptop's wifi to a router connected to the color kinetics? I have a router I use to control my MA desk from my iPad or am I being silly?

Yes that works,
but you still need an Artnet to DMX converter box between the router and the fixture.
You would send the Artnet output to the converter box's IP address, then it should send it out on it's XLR DMX output.
There are a few manufacturers that sell these boxes.
You can even build your own, from a raspberry pi and a few extra components.

USB to DMX converters are serial (USB) to digital multiplex (DMX 512) and will not work with Artnet so you wouldn't be able to scale up over a network,

My recommendation would be to use Ethernet to DMX converter(s) which use UDP and can communicate between various nodes that have unique IPs.

Take a look at the section of the Manual on DMX output

Yes, the Ethernet to DMX converter will show up on your network anywhere (wired or wireless) as long it's got the right IP/Subnet. You just need to make sure your Artnet settings (Net/Subnet/Universe) is set properly.

I tend to do it the other way, I locate my Ethernet to DMX converter next to my computer and use wireless DMX TX/RX adapters

There are many to choose from so make sure you understand your long term goals to avoid buying something that's limited in its application. Depending on your application, Artnet Nodes (controllers) can have DMX output(s), data/power, data only, sACN, etc...

I think a lot of people use the PixLite 16.

I personally use the Enttec ODE for single universe application and the Chauvet Net-X for things that require up to 8 DMX universes (or more as you daisy chain).

Joris from Resolume recommended looking at the Digidot not long ago.
