Internal 120 Hz Display on notebook?

Hey Folks,

i am looking for an new notebook for Resolume and i am not sure what kind of internal display i should look for.
All the new gaming notebooks use displays up to 4 k and 120Hz.
my thought was to use a ordinary 1920 x 1080 50Hz to 60Hz display to save the performance for the other outputs and not to waste it on the internal display. does it makes sense?

I also wonder if it makes a difference when the internal display runs other refresh-rates then the external outputs?
i suggest the GPU has more workload to do different frequencies, right?

what would you guys prefer and what are your experience?

60 Hz is just fine. I haven't seen or heard of any LED or Projectors that go beyond 60Hz. Going 120Hz has no additional benefits.

It only has benefits if you actually have footage that can run on 120fps to make the most of the 120Hz.

Having a good workflow is always important; so look for a screen that handles 50hz and 60hz on different resolutions. Having a 4k option to switch to is also very beneficial.

I know that there are no LED Conrollers or Projectors that handle 120Hz jet.
I was thinking about my internal display in my notebook if i have any disadvantages when i am using a 4K or a 120Hz Display?

You need more resources to run it ofcourse; however - I doubt it makes a massive noticeable difference.

When connected to a display with a lower refresh rate, the driver will let Resolume know and you'll run at a lower refresh rate. When you're not connected to a display with a lower refresh rate, you can enjoy veeeery smooth effects in the output monitor.

Resolume's interface itself does not use a lot of GPU processing power, most of the drawing of the sliders and menus is CPU based. A modern CPU is more than capable of doing that. So there's no big overhead when running it at 4K or 120Hz.
