Arena Stopped Working after USB Midi Mapping

Post by tallbridge »

Greetings!

I've been testing out Arena 6 with a new 8th gen i7 MSI w/ GTX 1050ti 4GB + 16GB ram. It's had its ups and downs w/ the whole Nahmlic audio situation, plus I'm still getting used to all the new features in 6. However, I reached a point where I was happy. It was complex composition with 10 layers for individually mapped inputs for slices plus a super wide screen layer mapped below. Everything was working smoothly, and then I plugged in a new APC mini and started mapping. I tried the preset, but went back to my own custom mapping and then out of now where the comp crashed.

Now I can't reopen Arena. I got a notice that it tried to send an error report, but ultimately failed - and now it says 'Arena Has Stopped working' (see attachment).

I've restarted. Shut down. Unplugged external monitors.
Nothing is working, I've never seen anything like it.

The only other thing I really did that was different besides the Midi mapping was setting some Clips to go "pick up where the last clip was, cause why not?" I feel like it's opening the same composition when its trying to open and it can't do it. Do I need to reinstall or does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks so much!

Try removing the recentLayout.xml from Documents/Resolume arena 6/preferences.

Zoltan!

Thank you, that worked!
I felt a little bad because I hadn't read Joris's thread about what to do for help before I posted, but I actually tried removing some of those other config files, and it didn't work - but yours did.

So I am guessing this is related to the Layout view, which is new to Arena 6 correct? I made my own layout, and as soon as I really started getting into the Midi mapping this happened. Would anyone from Team Resolume want to see the log file, since I'm pretty sure it didn't send?

I'm a huge fan of the custom layouts since I've been using VDMX for many years now, but it would be good to know if there are any major issues (and if they can be overcome) as I'm getting ready for a big show at Red Rocks Amphitheater next month. Thanks!

Glad to hear Resolume starts now.
We've been working on this issue, and it will be fixed in the next release.

If you experience any more crashes and see the crash reporter pop up, please send the reports with your email address, and a short description filled in. They help us a lot identifying issues.
Thanks!
