Dear Forum Users
Well I am looking into the world of VJ, I have a decent PC plenty of speed, ram and hardrive althougth the graphic card may need improving. Resolume looks like the ideal package, is there anyone out there who can fill me in a bit on whether this product is a worthy contender. I tried the ARkaos trial but wasnt particuarly impressed!!!! The plan is to add this package into my live performances using my AKAi as a midi controller. How stable is the product and what is the potential to get stunning results???
Cheers for your help

The potential to get stunning results all depends on you! resolume gives wht you put into it.
for a good overview of the vj-apps available look on http://www.vjcentral.com. Resolume is the only pc vj software that is in the top 5 and has by far the most votes.

Another overlong post out of boredom...
Resolume is by far the best all-in-one video mixing/triggering
package for pc (would be better if it did audio though;)).
It's solid as a rock - never crashed unless it's been something stupid I've done and pretty much has all the functionality of a hardware mixer if not more.
Archaos is the main contender (popularity wise) i think but it seems a bit of a toy to me (sorry, honest opinion). You can only trigger each layer on on top of the last, at least there's no intuitive way to control layering. There's no graphical faders with archaos so you'd need a midi controller for it to get full functionality. Maybe I'm wrong but I just got fed up with how unintuitive it was, unlike resolume. You can of course use midi controllers with res (which is best) but the great thing is the graphical interface where alll faders/playheads can be manipulated by just keyboard and mouse - ideal for the beginner or vj on a budget or simply if tight on space in the club.
Your graphics card may be fine, just about any recent ati card with tv-out (all of them i think) will do, fancy high end cards with loads o ram and directx 999 only use the extra power for 3d textures (games).
Download the demo and see, resolume is 'just' a tool in the end, all the creativity has to come from you but it allows so much potential and creative freedom when working with live video.
Resolume 4.75/5 (points off for no audio out yet:))
...and no, they don't pay me
