option to disregard MIDI channel #

Post by gpvillamil »

I would find it very useful if Resolume had a feature to disregard MIDI channel # for specific assignments. Here's why: the MIDI keyboard I am using (Edirol PCR-M1) has a handy rotary knob for changing channel number.

So I can assign a bunch of effects to black keys using channel #1, turn the knob, assign another bunch of effects using channel #2, etc. 160 effects assigned using only the black keys and a rotary!

However, I want the clips (assigned to white keys) to trigger regardless of the channel number. So the channel number could be a wildcard *.

Right now, if I have set MIDI triggers to a bunch of keys using channel #1, and I am on channel #2 to choose effects, I can't trigger clips. I have to flip back to channel #1.

I would like for the white keys to trigger the same clips regardless of the MIDI channel state, whereas the black keys trigger effects taking into account the MIDI channel.

Maybe you can implement as a simple toggle somewhere, record MIDI channel vs record wildcard.

Never mind, I implemented this in MIDIOX. Incoming MIDI notes from white keys are all remapped to channel #1, and used for clips. The notes from black keys are left alone, 10 keys on channels 1-16.
