Footage and comp size....again.

So i’m Running 1920x1080 clips on a 640x480 comp. I have the layers width and height boxes checked so the footage fits. My 2nd display is 1920x1080 and not using advanced out the clips play to me the same as if comp was 1920x1080.
I am able to use more effects this way but is this seem right or is it to early for me to think.

Setting the composition to a smaller resolution indeed helps to gain FPS.
