I have an interesting control issue:
I'm sending Artnet to some LED tubes which I have pixel mapped in Resolume via the computer NIC (PC network interface card). There is one Art Net node (Elation E-Node, 8 port) attached to LED tubes via PC NIC, and then out to a simple, un-managed network switch. Also, on the same network switch, I am merging Artnet from a lighting console(which has merge options). All of this works great!
However I also want to SEND Artnet back into Resolume from the same lighting console on the SAME network to trigger clips from DMX channels I've patched (simple on/off non-dim channels). I'd had mixed results with this and perhaps I don't understand fully how Artnet is implemented within Resolume.
Question: Can the PC NIC outputting Resolume pixel map stream also RECEIVE Artnet from lighting desk on the SAME above mentioned network? It doesn't appear within Resolume a way to assign more than a single NIC card for Artnet, otherwise I would add another one (NIC) then route Artnet output network on one, and assign the Artnet input (to trigger Resolume from desk) on the other.
Note: I would use MIDI, OSC however this desk only allows receive, not transmit of these protocols. In another pixel mapping app, I was able to just add a DMX input interface (Enttec DMX pro) on one of the USB ports on the Pixel map PC and simply connect my desk to just the universe with 5-pin DMX cable (thus isolating it from Artnet traffic going out of PC to tubes). Again perhaps I don't fully understand the implementation of Artnet and what is and isn't supported within Resolume.
Sending and receiving Artnet on same NIC
Re: Sending and receiving Artnet on same NIC
As long as Arena is the only once accessing the Art-Net port, you should be able to send and receive just fine. There's nothing stopping an application from using the same port on the same NIC for both in and output. We actually regularly do stress tests over Art-Net by letting Resolume send RGB color data to change its own parameters.
This setup could become problematic if you have more applications using Art-Net on the same computer.
