BBC is stealing our slogan!

Post by bart »

For the first time in our history the BBC is opening its video archives to the UK public. Download nearly 100 clips especially chosen with VJ's in mind. We've scoured the archives for skylines, sunsets, seascapes, wildlife, time-lapse photography & retro gadgets. We will be adding new clips/programmes and launching a major VJ based competition over the next few months so keep coming back for the latest updates.

Great innitiative but i,m not too happy about them stealing our slogan though :-)

Too bad it,s only for UK residents!

And I thought, ah what the hell. I'll have a look at this competition.
But the rules state that entries have to be made only of the clips they're offering!
And I thought, well ok, seems a bit limiting but I'll try making something out of various birds, skylines and sunsets.
And I thought, I've got some time, I'll download some of these clips. So I did but the MPGs I downloaded only play the first 10% or so of their official duration (even in mediaplayer) and most of that is taken up with BBC logos etc.

So I thought, balls to the BBC and their silly competition.

More of a cautionary tale than a complaint

The clips are ok but certainly not 'archive quality' if you know what I mean but it's all a bit of a test at the moment - the BBC has potentially a lot to offer in this area. I'd keep one eye on it.
