Converting Avi files with sound on alley
Converting Avi files with sound on alley
Just tried to convert an avi file to dxv but alley didn’t detected any sound, it won’t let me see any sound settings when trying to convert it, and after I converted it, it was soundless
Re: Converting Avi files with sound on alley
Sounds like the audio track of the file is not supported in Alley.
Does the file play with audio in Windows Movies and TV or OSX quickview?
Could you send us a screenshot of the file's codec info from VLC?
Thanks!

Re: Converting Avi files with sound on alley
When I played the clip with regular player it had sound. It was a wedding clip that I needed to play. Usually I render them to dxv so they won’t lag but yesterday just couldn’t. Mainly posted this topic so Resolume fix it

We'd need some more info then if you'd like this "fixed".
Like a screenshot of the file's codec info from VLC for a start.

Re: Converting Avi files with sound on alley
Hello,
I have used Alley to convert several .mp4 files in DXV3 .mov format. No problem, that works well, the only astonishment is to see that the .mov files size are about 6 times greater that the original H264 mp4 files. OK more place on the disk, but better lag to decode and display.
But the issue comes when I try to convert .AVI files, Alley doesn't find the audio data. No sound when Alley plays these files. If I use VLC I have always the sound. The audio codec used in these .AVI files is always mp3 codec.
If I try using an AVI file with raw audio data, Alley can play the file with sound.
So I suppose that there is an issue with mp3 codec. Perhaps I need to install a MP3 audio decoder?
Can someone help me with this issue?
Thanks

Re: Converting Avi files with sound on alley
I have seen that these .AVI files are also imported in Arena without sound . In Arena also .AVI files with audio coded in MP3 128kbps have no audio detected.
If I use GraphStudioNext to render the .AVI file I see that the renderer built can render video and audio, so all codec needed are present in Windows. Why Resolume environment (Alley, Arena..)doesn't accept this kind of file without loosing the audio?
If you can give an answer, thank you.
