We were commissioned by our friends from LUST to help turn a hotel into a video screen. We are placing a DMX controlled moving head in front of the window of 49 rooms to create a 7x7 'pixel' screen. Edwin wrote some custom software that analyses the colours of a 7x7 pixel flash movie and then sends DMX signals to each light to make them chance colour. Loads of fun to make and we just can't wait to see it in action. The installation is part of the TodaysArt festival (we also made the CMS for this website) and it is running from 20:00 to 01:00 this friday and saturday on the Mercure hotel (Spui plein) in The Hague.
Here is a video of the hotel:

Hi Jim,
yes it does ressemble the blinkenlights projects. They even have a piece of software where people can make their own animations with.
We used flash as an interface, so you create your flash animation, we read it's pixel values and control the lamps.
The difference with our project was is that we could actually use colored lamps (CMY) to create any color we want. And that we had the possibility to TIlt and Pan the lamps as well. Wich gave it a a really nice effect.
Anyway we hope we can get some pictures and video on our site as soon as possible..
Cheers
