Fade in effects

Post by max_mullen »

Hi, I'm quite new to Resolume Arena and I'm learning a lot from youtube tutorials and responses in this forum, but there's one thing that I don't seem to be able to find an answer to, how to fade in effects.

I just found out about the Layer Transition Controls, to add a fade in when you activate a clip, but with effects for example if I use the Hue effect with a knob from my MIDI controller my pulse has to be super steady for it to look "natural" and nice, otherwise the change is too sudden and feels forced. So is there a way to make it so it takes for example 3 seconds for the effect to take full opacity, or something like that?

Thanks!!

There are so many ways ;)

Either
use effec clips and use the layer transiton control
or
animate the opacity of the effect and "pause" it and start it if you want to start it
and/or
envelope the opacity animation to get the transition you want to have

i guess there are a few more and a few more ideas will come soon

Putting the effect on a clip and using transition control helped a lot!! I can definitely work with that, thanks a lot!

Although I wish there was some way to make the effects work "slower". There's not a way of using the Trails effect on another effect (and not in the videos) right? Because with the Trails effect at like 90% the Hue effect feels very smooth and natural, but of course it applies Trails to the whole video and that's a problem haha

In any way, thanks for the first response, it really helped
