Round Tap Tempo to a Whole Number

Post by Optillusions »

Heya

Couldn't seem to find any info on this or find an option in the preferences, so I assume it isn't an option but figured I'd check in case I missed something.

Is there a way to set the tap tempo to generate a whole number like say 156bpm, instead 156.47bpm? So basically rounding up or down to the closest whole number.

Just finding it a bit tedious to tap in the tempo and then have to jump on the keyboard to remove the ".47", ya know.

I'm currently working on setting up a single midi controller to control multiple softwares at once, with some options (like tap tempo) being linked to the same button on the midi controller. Trying to keep my hands and eyes off of the keyboard and mouse as much as I can :)

Hope I missed something and there is an option for this. If not then i hope there's a ticket for it :)

Thanks in advances!

If you tapped 156.47 BPM, 156 and 157 will both drift from the tempo.

Have you tried Ableton Link to sync up the programs?

Yea for the most part, the drifting is fine. I usually don't use BPM sync and rely mostly of a audio input to drive things. Mostly been incorporating BPM synced stuff for a certain regular gig where I'm more providing general room lighting effects (with projectors) rather than visuals per say. So having the visuals flash and flicker in sync without drifting is nice.

Hadn't really looked at Ableton Link, thought it was just for Ableton lol. Ableton Link is supported in one of the other software I use but for what I've doing I'll sometimes want one software to be half time, another double time, etc, so locking them together isn't ideal. I'll have a look into though, it may be handy for some other stuff :)

No worries. A somewhat nit picky thing hehe. In Pangolins Quickshow, there's a "Round BPM" option that can be enabled which does what I described. A handy option to have. Once seen, it can't be unseed :p

+1 for a Round option under preferences.
