Hi. I'm new to Wire and just starting to make some things with it. I'm finding it really slow though - I wonder if I'm doing something wrong or it's just not suited to what I want to do.
I thought I'd have a go at some moire patterns, so I'm generating a bunch of lines. 400 is a good number for what I'm aiming at - I've used 2 line objects, each with 200 instances. These are being driven by linear objects for the x axis and a float for the y - 4 of each for the beginning and end of each line (with the linear objects also having 200 values).
This works, but it gets REALLY slow - like so slow that the gui doesn't really work. I appreciate it's not a completely trivial task, and my machine isn't the fastest (2016 mbp), but I still would've expected this to be something doable. Does anyone have any pointers?
Wire MUCH slower than expected
Re: Wire MUCH slower than expected
Be sure you are working with "Shapes" and not "Textures" 200 textures at whatever your resolution is is the same as 200 active layers in Arena/Avenue

Re: Wire MUCH slower than expected
200 line shapes on my 2013 macbook pro make 23 fps. On a n M1 max, same is running at 112.

Re: Wire MUCH slower than expected
Thanks for that. Helpful to try another example. This runs OK (60fps) on my machine UNTIL I add a Texture Out object. Then I go right down to like 1-3 fps, which is obviously no good!Zoltán wrote: Mon Dec 05, 2022 16:34 200 line shapes on my 2013 macbook pro make 23 fps. On a n M1 max, same is running at 112.

Re: Wire MUCH slower than expected
Ah yes, I assumed that my line objects were only producing 1 layer each, but I think in fact they were producing hundreds. "Merge" seems to have helped a lot!Arvol wrote: Mon Dec 05, 2022 16:15 Be sure you are working with "Shapes" and not "Textures" 200 textures at whatever your resolution is is the same as 200 active layers in Arena/Avenue![]()
