Resolume very low fps. empty composition

Hi! Advice welcome please.

Running Resolume 7 (last updated 2020, i know)

At the start of Resolume the pop-up box says:
"the Nvidia profile for resolume needs to be restored to ensure optimal performance" at which i always click "restore and restart"

Problem: When i open a new 1080p composition with no clips inside, the frame rate is super low, 7fps

Nvidia 2080 studio driver is the latest.

But to compare, I also rolled back to the driver from May 2022, same low fps.

I monitored the fps when running other stuff, TouchDesigner and Unreal Engine 5.1 are both running at 60fps no problem.

Click the "Output" dropdown menu and then click "Show Display Info". What is your rendering GPU?
How does your power settings look?

Thank you for the fast reply!

I did output > show info > but forgot to take note of the figures

What happened next was weird:
I hit fullscreen (display on laptop screen itself, no projector connected)
At the top right of fullscreen I coudl see the FPS count at 110!

Then hit Esc to return to interface screen. My FPS went down to 98fps.
When running a few clips the fps settles between 30-40 fps

This is for an 8K composition

Makes no sense but it seems to have sorted itself!
