Clip Trigger/Play Once and Hold (Bug?)

Post by kcstratslinger »

I'm trying to program some visuals for my band. I am using autopilot on every layer and timing the clips to run together at specific times. The idea is to give one of us a trigger that, when hit, pauses the forward movement of the visuals and brings in a logo. When hit again, the logo goes out and the visuals begin to progress again. I'm trying to sync it so that there are different logo styles for specific scenes. So, I am using BPM sync at 60bpm for visuals and Timeline for the logos. I thought the solution would be to program an effect parameter to bring in the logo by pressing the > button, then take it back out by setting the same trigger to the < button. I'm doing this with the Play Once and Hold option. I have the Clip Trigger option turned off. Yet, it still keeps triggering the parameter when autopilot changes to the clip. So, the logo shows up and goes out on it's own when it shouldn't be seen. What is strange is that it only does it on the first run. When autopilot loops back to the first clip, then moves on to the second one, the logo doesn't trigger itself again. It's seems like when I press the first column to set everything to the beginning, it forces the second clip to trigger on the first run. Then operates as expected the second time through.

This stuff is so hard to explain in words. Is anyone else having similar issues?

Edit: I forgot to mention that the transport on the logos are set to BPM sync (along with everything else), but I use timeline on the effect parameter. That way the parameter still moves when paused, but the autopilot timing is still lined up with the other layers.

Not sure exacly how you trigger the clips now. If you have still images, set their duration, and place a Blank source after them in the layer. Then you should not need to set up param animations, simply use the layer transition with Auto pilot.

If that's not what you're looking for, a short screen recording could be of some help understanding where you get stuck.
