Recently bought Pulse (Great tool!) which works through Ableton link. When I activate Link, the Resync and Pause buttons are not usable anymore, greyed out.
Why is that? I want to Pause and I use resync sometimes to start a clip on the beat.
edit:
I just read over here why that is:
https://resolume.com/support/en/link
But why would Resolume want to send out the Pause or Resync? That would be Resolume only no (or make a toggle switch in preferences to not send out a BPM signal)?
Resync and pause buttons greyed out with using link

We don't want to send it out, that's why they are disabled when you have Link enabled. But why would Resolume want to send out the Pause or Resync? That would be Resolume only no (or make a toggle switch in preferences to not send out a BPM signal)?
If you'd like separate tempo controls, I'd recommend disabling Link.

Re: Resync and pause buttons greyed out with using link
But I need Link to get Pulse to work. Why would Pause and Resync send information outside Resolume?
Re: Resync and pause buttons greyed out with using link
I've posted a few requests about this on Slack (no reply's???)
My suggestions was to make Arena only grab the BPM from Link (as CDJ's don't really care about downbeat from what I've been reading) and have the resync, x2, /2 buttons only be for local Resolume and not push back out to Link. I'm currently doing this through middleware I wrote but it would be great to have this built in by default <3

Because it would manipulate the beat grid, and pause playback across other applications.murc wrote: Tue Dec 12, 2023 15:06 But I need Link to get Pulse to work. Why would Pause and Resync send information outside Resolume?
Those could be valid use cases, but doing video, you probably don't want to accidentally stop the music.
We have a ticket to figure out something about better flexibility.

Re: Resync and pause buttons greyed out with using link
My suggestion (from Slack) was to change the behavior of the BPM section of Resolume to 'local only' when Link is active. Resolume would ingest Link and then all of the x2 , /2 , resync functions would only be local to Resolume. Basically side chaining the logic and keeping it local and not pushing it back out to Link.
I'm currently doing this in TouchDesigner. Ingesting Link, then having my own x2 , /2 , resync functions that sends values back to Resolume via OSC. This could all be done behind the scenes in Resolume as well.
I agree, If Link is active in Resolume, what VJ's do, shouldn't push back to Link.
