Resolume as a replacement for Marching Order

Post by Vfortino »

Hello

We have used a piece of software called Marching Order to produce Lower Thirds for our students as a part of our annual Commencement Ceremony. Our problem with Marching Order is that it is expensive and could be done much better. To make this work in Resolume, we need to create a database that contains the students' names and the degrees they are receiving, and we associate each record with a bar code or QR code. During a typical Commencement Ceremony, we do not have the order for the students to cross the stage before the event. Typically, as the students approach the stage, they hand a card to the person reading their names, and then they cross the stage. The workflow I would like to see is that after the student hands their card to the reader, they scan the bar code or QR Code associated with the student record in the database and have Resolum pull the student's name and degree information into a lower third in real-time. Has anyone done anything like this with Resolum? If so, I would appreciate any help you could provide. P.S. If a Resolum developer is looking for a project, this could be a lucrative opportunity. We are a small community College in Phoenix, but we pay over $2000 a year for the Marching Order Software, and I know of many other colleges and high schools that pay for this as well.

Thank You,

Using the Rest-API https://resolume.com/support/en/restapi
you could build an application where you'd hand out QR codes with links to the app/site, which could then take more info from the student database, or already have the student's name encoded in the QR (which might not be
great idea with IT students) and push that as clip/text generator to Resolume and play it.
