DXV vs HAP performance

Post by JonathanGale »

Hey all,
I'm using Resolume in conjunction with some other video softwares that don't support DXV, and having multiple copies of videos is becoming a nuisance. HAP is broadly supported, so I'm considering using it as my primary codec, and just having 1 copy of content.

If videos are in HAP instead of DXV, how much is there a performance hit to Resolume, and which functions would it hit hardest?

Thanks!

HAP and DXV performance in Resolume should be about the same

Thanks for the reply, that's very helpful.
Out of curiosity, why do they both exist if they're so similar? It looks like DXV came out in 2009 and HAP came out around 2013, why would Vidvox reinvent the wheel? And has Resolume kicked around the idea of adding HAP encoding to Alley?

licensing costs probably.

I don't think that will likely happen because of the same
