Resolume Alley not working

Hello,
I'm preparing a practice set up and i downloaded a long video with several scenes i needed to cut up into shorter clips to later use in resolume arena 7. i cut the long video up roughly and then used alley to make more precise cuts. but after spending a few hours doing this, the clips i exported still have frames from the previous scene and the scene after in the clip... i thought i had cut it up well in alley, but i feel i wasted time.
Does anyone have any advice on how to extract certain clips (from a longer video) and then use those in arena?

I'd just convert to one single file and do the cut in Arena via the clip in and out points.
If you like that, you can then do a render on the clips right there.
You can make the cuts pretty quick if you have keyboard shortcuts set to the in and out handlers.
