2.4 final slower than 2.4 beta

Post by VJ Nexus »

I've been doing some testing with frame rates of various footage combinations, and noticed that 2.4 final is showing a 8-9% decrease in performance from 2.4 beta.

Below are some test results i did with the beta version a little while back to performance test my computer, and then some more recent results with the final version.

BETA:
Single clip - 640x480 indeo 5.1 = 75-85 fps
3 layers - 640x480 indeo 5.1 + no effects = 75-85 fps
3 layers, all effect channels + all clip effects (total 6 effects) = 35-40 fps

FINAL:
Single clip - 640x480 indeo 5.1 = 60-65 fps
3 layers - 640x480 indeo 5.1 + no effects = 45-55 fps
3 layers, all effect channels + all clip effects (total 6 effects) = 20-30 fps

The same effects in the same positions were always used - same videos always used. All processing done at 640x480 output to 800x600.

Computer specs: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600, 2gb ddr2-5400, 2x74gb 10,000rpm Raptor in RAID 0 for system, 2x74gb 10,000 Raptor in RAID 0 for clips, 2x pci-e Crossfire x1800 gto

Huge props though - Resolume is fantastic! Just thought you might find this interesting...

yeah we had to tweak the engine a bit to make shure flash playback would also be ok, in the beta version flash playback was not working as it should so we tweaked everything to make shure it all runs smooth. unfortunately it is a little bit slower but it,s a bit smoother overall.
