LAPTOP - Quadro FX or Geforce???

Post by messhead »

Hi all,

Just wondering whats the best GPU to get to use resolume on a laptop? The Quadro FX or GeForce? I also use Adobe Production SUite, after effects mainly so was also wondering if any of you know which would be best for that also. I think thinking the Quaadro over the Consumer GeForce but not sure still.

Also, Generally what shouold i be looking for in a laptop? I mean 7,200RPM HDD? Is there a 10,000 for laptop? Minimium processor im after, Ram etc etc.

Im new to laptops but am very upto date with desktops. I just need a laptop for Resolume and Adobe and am eyeing one up but would like some advice before purchasing.

Cheers all

too many bottlenecks mate in a laptop for a serious desktop replacement.

Alos GPU doesnt matter for Resolume.. as long as you have the right OUTS you'll be right.

Lappys are about 5 years away from replacing almost all desktops (thats what i think anyway) and if I'm wrong give it 10 ! and we wont even rememner what a desktop looked like

Slow HDDS, heat problems RAIDing, Not being able to run RAM as fast as CPU fsb. i.e limited to DDR2 667

Designed to run efficiently (making best use of battery) rather than fast.

I was a shuttle boy until i found the LIAN LI v300. True desktop power in something a whee bit larger than the average shuttle.

Cheers

I always been desktop haha. Im actually selling my desktop right now on Ebay: HERE

I need make the move to Laptop really to use it play at shows and stuff. I know full well desktops blow Laptops out of the water. Was thinking of just updating my GFX's on my desktop to a X2900XTX in may when i go america but decided on getting a laptop. GOt around £2,000 spend on it so been looking around and seems like ill get a Core2Duo T7400(2.13)/T7600(2.33), 2GB/2.8GB(MAXIMIUM), Nvidia Quadro FX2500M, seems like there little difference between 2500 and 3500M anyways. Ill get a Seagate Savvoy 10,000RPM or even 15,000RPM HDD and im pretty certain that will be a good replacement for a desktop for now. Be pushing 640x480 easy anyways.

Just need £1,000 for a panasonic HD Projector now :o
