I need some advice about re-installing the previous version of Resolume Arena, and best practice for installing new updates.
I'm happily using Resolume Arena (on a windows 11 high spec laptop, Gigabyte Aorus Master 18), but the latest update appears to have disabled one of my main Effects (TBOT's Feedback Machine).
It's a Wire effect and Mr TBOT got back to me and said he'll look into it.
So in the meantime I may have to go back to the previous version of Resolume.
- Am I right that I can simply download the previous version and install it without having to uninstall the new one?
- To avoid issues in future (especially when i have a gig next week!), is it best practice to install new versions directly from the Resolume website so I have both versions installed until I'm sure that it's safe to remove the old one? (instead of just clicking on "install" when Resolume tells me there's a new version available)
- How would I identify the 2 different installed versions of Arena when the version number isn't visible in the Windows Start Menu Applications List?
- What's the safest way to uninstall the old version? I saw Joris said (in the Forum in 2015) the best way to uninstall the old version is to,
"only delete the Resolume 4.x.x application folder that you no longer need.
All other folders contain shared preferences, settings, compositions, registration files and other things you need to run the new version.
So just go to Applications / Program Files and delete the older Res folder there. Only when you want to completely remove Resolume altogether, should you use the uninstaller or something like Cleaner to remove all folders completely."
Can someone explain to me exactly what to delete when I'm ready to uninstall the older version?
I don't want to risk confusing my computer by overcluttering or deleting the wrong thing in the wrong way, and I want to be sure I can confidently keep/reinstall and uninstall old versions whenever I need to.
Thanks for your advice!
Suzybee
