Would this laptop be okay for resolume?

I mostly VJ with other software on my PowerBook G4. However, I am wanting to buy a PC laptop for my home business. I would like to use it as well to run Resolume possibly. I have an older copy from five years ago but will probably upgrade.

I am wondering if this laptop would be adequate or too slow. The reviews said that hard core gamers might not like it, so I imagine it might be best to get something with the Core 2 Duo processor instead?

I am kind of PC illiterate in terms of specs and will appreciate any input. Thanks!

It's enough to run Resolume. But it fully depends on the output resolution you want to use.
My 2 year old laptop has only 512mb ram and AMD3400 proc. Using one of the lower resolutions, i can use all effects and layers without framedrops.
By the way in the laptop configuration it's verry important to know the speed of the hard drive if it is 5200rpm that would probably be the bottleneck.

Thank you. This model didn't give the hard drive speed.

I think I am going to go with the Core 2 Duo processor anyway on another brand. In case my Mac breaks down, I'd like to have a good PC back up.

just make sure you have s-video output as well as the standard VGA. This will cause you hassle if need to convert it as i do

hi friends,

just for reference, when I go live, my backup laptop is a 5 year old Vaio GRX560 (Pentium 4 M, 512MB RAM, 60GB 4500 rpm HD and an old ATI 7500 32 MB).
its still do the magic at 640x480 output resolution and 320x240 process, only one effect and 2 layers.
I think your configuration will do the job, but dont forget the hd 5200rpm tip from gdlt.

I have a similar setup as zaniz but with an external eSATA hard drive. It does the job but the video sometimes stalls when its loading something. My resolution is higher and I use all three layers. Most of my clips are not optimized to use in resolume (makes a huge difference).

My partner has a laptop with nearly identical specs as the one you where looking at and it performs great.
