We have not seen anyone use Logic and Resolume together, lot's of people use Ableton Live and Resolume together with midi though.

Hey guys,

I'm trying to use Resolume and Logic in one machine (mac pro, osx 10.5.8) and get a lot of crashes with resolume for some reason.

Here's what I've done so far:

I'm using the IAC driver to be able to run Logic and Resolume on one machine. I've set the input of Resolume to IAC driver 1, and the output of the logic track to the IAC driver 1 too. So far so good.

If I then go back to resolume and try to assign a clip to a key, using the mapping options and I press a key I see the note number change, but after that Resolume crashes. I've tried this repeatedly but no success so far. Any suggestions here? I can send the log file if you like?

Thanks,

Robert

yes please email the log file to support@resolume.com

MAC: /Users/[username]/Library/Logs/Resolume Avenue 3 log.txt
PC: C:/Documents and Settings/[username]/Application Data/Resolume/Resolume Avenue 3 log.txt

Hopefully that will show us what is going wrong.

Hi, Is there any chance of an update on this?

I have a gig coming up at the end of Feb where we'll be performing using Logic and we want to trigger clips in resolume. My initial route was going to be to run Logic on one Mac, run resolume on another using the IAC driver and simply have a track in Logic sending MIDI data to Resolume to start each clip.

I would be very keen to know if anyone else has experience of doing this or other instances of using Logic and Resolume together.

Many thanks,
Andrew

Hey Andrew

If you are experiencing a crash as well, could you send the logfile to support[at]resolume[dot]com? If not, could you explain what the problem is?

Hi,
I don't have any problem as such, I just want some guidance about how best to get Logic to talk to Resolume. I'm a novice and really just wondered if anyone else out there is using Logic with Resolume and if so how they have them talking to one another, etc.

Ideally I want to have Logic on one Mac and run resolume on another but I don't have experience of using two machines together, or of using the IAC driver.

Any guidance would be very welcome, or suggested reading, etc.

Many thanks,
Andrew

There's a video ( http://resolume.com/blog/post.php?t=6187 ) and a written tutorial ( http://www.resolume.com/avenue/manual/tutorial_live.php ) on syncing Avenue with Ableton. Although both deal with Ableton as an example, the workflow is pretty much the same for Logic.

If you have any problems after reading and watching those, we'll try our best to sort them out.

Thanks very much for pointing me at those. Its pretty much how I expected it to work, which is a good sign! In Logic I will create a MIDI instrument for resolume using the IAC driver, but it was helpful to understand better how to map the midi in Resolume.

I will let you know how I get on in the coming days.

Many thanks,
Andrew
