clip triggering midi suggestions

Post by armitageshanks »

hey all,

currently using my bcr2000 for fooling around with my layers when i perform live but does anyone have suggestions for a piece of good value midi for triggering clips - ie a nice 4x5 drum pad type thing? would love to get my hands on a vmx vj but don't really want two pieces of hardware that do the same thing. any suggestions?

all the best,

armitage

definately a possibility but was wondering if there is anything out there that more directly corresponds to the resolume layout ie 4x5 layout. cheers though

as far as i know al drumpads are 4x4.... so they don't fit the resolume layout perfect.

I used to use the top row of encoders as clip triggers with the bcr2000. Because you can assign four functions to the push setting of the top row I would have the first five push encoders for clips 1-5, then select function 2 for 6- 10, function 3 for 11-15, function 4 for 16-20. Of course this means pressing two buttons to trigger a clip on a different row of the clip trigger matrix but its a workaround not having a bank of 4x5 buttons on the BCR.

Does that make sense?

The Codanova VMX VJ controller has a 4x5 button matrix and looks amazing for Resolume. Check it out at Codanova.com

Vmx Vj from codanova, the best option for resolume, I really think it has been made with resolume on designers mind...
