Hi, i am new to resolume and the forum and was wondering if you could help me out as i am a complete newb to this program!
I have just got resolume up and running and currently assigning the midi for my codanova VMX VJ controller. I have ran a search in the forums but i cannot find how to trigger the clips using the 5X4 buttons on the controller.
Please help as it is driving me round the bend!
Thanks in advance,
felix.

Re: Clip Triggering with Midi - newbie
Each clip has a number or a letter in the top left corner. Just hit that key on the keyboard to trigger. No midi required. : )

In order to trigger the clips in resolume using midi the controller has to be sending midi note messages that correspond to the clip slots. I haven't got resolume on this machine but if I remember correctly it is easy to change the midi note that each clip slot is assigned to. Open the preferences panel and find the midi mapping tab, from here you can see which notes the slots are assigned to. I can't remember exactly how to do it, possibly select the slot in the midi mapping tab and then press the pad on the controller like you would do to assign a knob or fader.
Alternatively you could adjust which notes the codanova sends on each pad to the default notes that resolume has assigned, check the codanova manual to see if this can be done but this method would be more complicated. Experiment with the midi mapping in resolume and I'm sure you will work out how to do it, I remember it being pretty straightforward.
If the codanova can switch between pad banks you might be able to trigger clips into any of the 3 decks without having to select the deck first. To do this the codanova would have to be able to send 3 different midi notes on the same pad by toggling between banks with a button or buttons on the controller.

Re: Clip Triggering with Midi - newbie
i'm not sure wat you mean with triggering, i'm always confusing it with latch and flash.
But if you want to let Resolume play and hold a clip:
Set the dipswitches from the codanova: 11100001
resolume:
go to preferences --> midi mapping
On the left side you see the 4x5 grid
Press clear all and select the first box in the grid.
now press the same button on your codanova.
repeat this for the complete grid.
