Does anyone else find R2.41 sometimes goes into a really sluggish playback (maybe 1 or 2 frames\sec) , maybe if there are other apps running in the background? I have been using Ableton Live in the background (avoiding heavy CPU) to control R2.41 and sometimes dive into Swishmax2 Flash editor.
When this happens, I can restore some order by changing the Screen Preferences, and it returns to normal, for a while anyway.
I've done as much optimisation as I can find ... unfortunately this is my only laptop, so it has to have the usual stuff on it (antivirus etc), though I would normally disable this. Maybe I'll look at dual boot at some point.
Anyone else find this drastic slowdown? Any thoughts, tips, tricks (apart from the obvious)?
Thanks
Richard

Running apps in the background will definitely slow things down, how much RAM do you have?
I too notice that it slows down by the end of the night, but then again I attribute this to the fact that I run long clips (several minutes long usually). I have a duocore 1.6GHz, 2gigs RAM on XP.
