Clip Selection using MIDI w/REACT and VMX

Post by TiMBO »

Hi Guys,

Firstly great work with v3 considering the major change I’m finding the system quite stable!
I may be missing something here, but when trying to setup decks/layers in a similar way to V2 so they can be triggered with a REACT/VMX or other 'grid based' controller via MIDI I’m hitting a brick wall.

Setting Clip Target = Active Layer and adding a couple more layers to mimic the quantity of 'rows' I have on my controllers works very well for the first deck... but when I change to the second or third deck Resolume has a new MIDI map.

Can the Contextual MIDI map be setup to work on layers 2 onwards? Is there another work around for this?

Cya's & congrats on the release,

TiMBO!

Correct, when you assign a "direct" MIDI note to a clip it will only trigger that specific clip and not the clip in that position in a different deck.

With the "contextual" MIDI you can trigger clips in the active layer.

There is currently no way trigger clips like you describe, (regardless of what layer or deck is active) we will have to think about a sollution for this.

Thanks for that bart, hope you can work something out else it leaves us REACT and VMX buyers with a door stop (or maybe a very expensive door bell? hahaha)

Maybe some form of 'Legacy' MIDI mapping mode, that caters for clip triggering 'the old way'? Else a tick box among the preferences area that overrides the 'direct' mode and translates the MIDI keys/data from whatever is mapped on deck one, to the active deck? I assume the latter would be the easiest to implement..
